About Renascent
Design
Lorraine Howell has worked in the field of design for
most of her life. With a background in fine art, she
initially designed marble and granite furniture for several
big-name stores.
In 1997 she returned to college to study interior design,
launching Renascent Design in 2000. In 2002, just two years
after establishing Renascent Design, Lorraine was named
Designer of the Year by Northwest based Concept for Living
magazine.
From 1978-1980, Lorraine played keyboard in Manchester
post-punk band, The Passage, who acted as support band to
Joy Division.
Having a Dutch/Javenese mother Lorraine made a memorable
trip in 2006 back to Java with her sisters to research her
predecessors, returning to The Court at Cirebon. The journey
was a profound one in terms of mind, spirit & design.
Lorraine’s interests now include reading, entertaining and travelling.
She has a particular passion for period costume, collecting
individual pieces, books and viewing private collections.
